If you are interested in hunting Montana we recommend you hire a guide. Montana has a lot of public land but if you have ever hunted Montana you know that you are not alone out there. With minimal roads and numerous hunters it makes it nearly impossible to get a shot at a good animal. The guides can offer guaranteed tags for elk, antelope, mule deer, or whitetail deer on private ground. The elk aren't going to the quality you see in Arizona or some of the units in Utah, the antelope won't be giants, the whitetail are not 180+, the muleys aren't 200", but you will see a lot of animals and won't have to wait 10+ years for a chance. The size of the elk you can expect to harvest are 320-350, the antelope 70-75, the whitetail 130-160, and the mule deer 150-180. These aren't record breaking animals but no slouches either. In comparison with hunts for the same animals in other places, the prices are fair; you get what you pay for, and in this case it's worth the money. We have hunted with the same outfitter (mike's personal friend) for the last two years. We have harvested three whitetails in the 130's, two in the 150's, and an antelope that scored 75. Pictures of all the animals harvested with this outfitter on all his ranches for the last three years are available upon request.
